RAWALPINDI: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has offered Nawab Brahamdagh
Bugti, the grandson of slain Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti, to
contest by-elections from NA-55, Rawalpindi, to test the affection
the people of the Punjab for Balochistan.
The seat fell vacant after the resignation of PML-N MNA Haji Parvaiz
Khan, who was found guilty of impersonation. The offer was made at a
seminar organised by the JI on the situation in Balochistan at the
Rawalpindi Press Club.
The seminar was addressed by JI Secretary General Liaquat Baloch,
Assistant Secretary General Dr Farid Paracha, JI Balochistan chapter
Ameer Maulana Abdul Haque Hashmi, JI Punjab chapter Naib Ameer Mian
Muhammad Aslam, JI Rawalpindi chapter Ameer Raja Abdul Waheed,
general secretary Shamsur Rehman Swati and others.
“We invite the grandson of Nawab Akbar Bugti to contest the
by-election from NA-55 to see the love and affection of the people
of Punjab for their Baloch brethren,” Raja Abdul Waheed said. He
said the JI, the voters of the constituency and other parties would
also support Brahamdagh Bugti in the by-election.
Speaking on the occasion, Liaquat Baloch alleged that government was
endangering national security and sovereignty by ignoring the
Balochistan situation and problems of the Baloch people.
