Aiwan-e-Riffat to be ready by September’

KARACHI: The City District Government Karachi (CDGK) is constructing the country’s largest auditorium and a modern art gallery, which would be operational by September.
The project, costing Rs 210 million, would be a state-of-the-art monument for the promotion of universal brotherhood through the exchange of cultural delegates from across the globe.
The city nazim stated this during a surprise visit to the Aiwan-e-Riffat (Faizee Rahameen Arts Gallery) auditorium on Sunday evening.
On the occasion, Kamal was briefed of the project details and history. The officer concerned informed the city nazim that the project had been pending since 1994, but the CDGK took the initiative to complete it.
The building would have a foolproof security system, while video surveillance cameras would be installed at all major locations. The five-storied building would have car parking facility at the basement and dressing and workshop rooms for artists. At the ground floor Faizee Rahameen Art Gallery would be established besides the conference room, cafeteria, banquet hall and meeting rooms at first floor. The 1,800-seat auditorium would be at the second and third floor.
The city nazim then directed the officials concerned to further speed up the work of auditorium and art gallery so that the project could be completed on time.
While talking to the Daily Times, Kamal said that the unique project is a step forward to boost arts and cultural activities and creating opportunities for the talented youth of the city and the country to introduce their creative works to the modern world.
The CDGK has fulfilled its commitments during last four years of for uplifting the standard of life and sending a positive portrait of the city and the citizens of the city throughout the world that they both are liberal in thoughts and peace loving in their attitude, said Kamal.
