Govt decides action against land mafia

Sindh Minister for Law and
Parliamentary Affairs Muhammad Ayaz Soomro has said that the Sindh
government has decided to take action against the land mafia in the
province besides vowing to end encroachments.
This he said while presiding over a
meeting of officials of the law department here on Friday. The
government has finalised its strategy to take action against the
land mafia across the province including Karachi. He said that
evidences of grabbing land by some influential groups were being
collected.
“The report will be forwarded to the
President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari and later action will be
taken against those involved in it and those supporting them”, he
added. Soomro further said that land allotted to the people should
be utilised for only the purpose it was given for, adding the
government had the right to cancel its lease if the land was not
used for the desired purpose.
The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)
govt is also investigating about the government land worth millions
of rupees, which was allotted on favouritism basis
