Govt to spread Sufis' peace message

KARACHI - Sindh Government will spread the Sufi poets’ peace message worldwide by translating the same into English, French and other languages to counter the increasing extremism.
Sindh Minister for Culture and Tourism Department said this while replying the queries of the legislators of Sindh Assembly on Thursday. She said that a number of copies of English translation of ‘Shah Jo Risalo’ comprising on poetry of great poet of Sindh Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai have been published by her department.
To a question asked by PPP member Nadeem Ahmed Bhutto regarding English translation of Shah Latif’s poetry, minister said that four volumes of ‘Shah Jo Risalo’ have been published during last five years, while culture department paid honorarium to the translators of these books.
Provincial Minister disclosed that poetry of ‘Sufi’ poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai will also be translated into French, Arabic, Hindi and other languages of the world as Shah’s poetry give lesson of tolerance, love and peace.
The English version of ‘Shah Latif’ poetry would also be kept in Washington and other international libraries in the world. However, Shah Latif’s poetry would also be translated into Baluchi, Pashto, Punjabi and regional languages to preach the ‘Sufism’ through poetry of Sindh’s poets.
Replying to a question, she said that government has set up one billion rupees endowments fund to preserve cultural heritage as well as to provide financial help to needy artists of the province.
She pointed out that every third people of our population claim as artist which causing difficulties to find genuine .
