MQM to create huge signature banner

       By: Nisar Mehdi
KARACHI - Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has planed to make the world’s largest signature banner, measuring 55,000 square meters, during its campaign “Yes for Pakistan and No for Taliban”, sources told The Nation on Thursday.
MQM campaign banner would be larger than the world’s largest banner, an insider of the party said.
“MQM, Communications and Media Management Wing (CAMM) and Defence Clifton Residence Committee (DCRC) are going to jointly create the world’s largest signature banner to hold a sort of referendum in the country”.
He added the major objective behind this signature campaign was to highlight people’s hatred for the Taliban and their commitment and love with their country.
“MQM Chief Altaf Hussain, during his address on the foundation day celebrations of APMSO, had said that after its creation, the banner would be moved across the country to motivate the masses against the barbaric group of Taliban, involved in the killings of hundreds of innocent people, army personnel, clerics and other notables,” he said.
Ms Erum Farooq, an office bearer of Defence Clifton Residence Committee, hoped the proposed signature banners would be included in the list of Guinness Book of world record.
“For this purpose, we have contacted the management of Guinness Book of world record. We are also seeking the support to sponsor our project because it is much expensive and we have planned to move this banners across the country”, she informed.
Erum told The Nation that people would sign the more than 55,000 square meters long banner during MQM’s signatory campaign titled “Yes for Pakistan and No for Taliban”.
Its size was decided after making contact with the management of Guinness Book of World Record and it would the largest banner ever created in the world, she claimed.
She further said the signature campaign against the Taliban would be kicked-off within a few days and the MQM had planned to it in the two to three months while the overseas Pakistanis would also be invited to participate in the awareness campaign against the Taliban.
MQM Communication and Media Management Wing In-charge and Deputy Parliamentary leader of MQM in National Assembly Haider Abbas Rizvi said the signature campaign “Yes for Pakistan and No for Taliban”, would start within a few days after the return of MQM Rabita Committee members from London.
