MQM-H, MQM, ST activists among 11 gunned down

Eleven people, including activists belonging to the Mohajir Qaumi Movement-Haqiqi (MQM-H), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and Sunni Tehrik (ST), were gunned down in separate incidents on Sunday.
Two brothers, Shaukat Qureshi and Liaquat Qureshi, were shot dead in the Sharifabad police limits, while Adeel was injured in the incident. The police said that the victims managed a butcher’s shop in Liaquatabad No-4.
Late Saturday night, they were present at the shop, when two men on a motorcycle came over, and opened indiscriminate fire, killed both brothers on the spot, injured Adeel, and fled. The deceased were residents of the same area, and activists of the MQM-H, while Adeel was the son of Liaquat Qureshi.
In a separate incident, Irfan, son of Usman, was shot dead in the Bilal Colony police limits. The police said that Irfan was present near his house situated in North Karachi Sector-5E, when two men on a motorcycle came over, shot and killed him, and fled. The deceased was single, an activist of the MQM-H. He worked as a minibus driver. A case was registered at the police station.
In yet another case, Mohammed Yasin and Head Constable (HC) Arshad were shot dead in the Eidgah police limits. The police said that both men were friends and late Saturday night they were present at Siddiq Wahab Road, when some men on a motorcycle came over, opened indiscriminate fire, killed Yasin and Arshad, and fled. Yasin was an activist of the MQM and a resident of F.B Area. He leaves behind a widow. HC Arshad was a resident of Garden Headquarters and was posted at the Sir Syed police station. He leaves behind a widow and three children. A case was registered at the police station.
In the Al-Falah police limits, unidentified men shot and killed Abid Ali Baig and fled. The police said that Baig was present near Azeempura graveyard, Shah Faisal, when some men riding a motorcycle came over, shot and killed him on the spot and fled.
The deceased was a resident of house-91/5, Shah Faisal Colony No 5. He was a former activist of the MQM. He left the party a-year-and-a-half ago, submitted an apology letter, and joined the ST. A case was reported at the police station.
In another incident, Mohammed Usman was shot dead in the Peerabad police limits. The police said that the victim was a resident of Hingo and had come to Karachi 10 days ago for the transplantation of his brotherís kidney.
He was staying at his relative Asmatullah’s house situated near Frontier Morr.
On Sunday morning, four men broke into their house, killed Usman, and fled. The deceased leaves behind a widow and two children. A case was reported at the police station.
In a separate case, Pervez Abbasi was shot dead in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar police limits. The police said that Abbasi was a resident of Abdullah Height, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. On Saturday night, he went to his physiotherapist’s clinic situated in the area, when he was shot at and killed.
He belonged to Azad Kashmir. The murder seems to be because of some personal enmity. A case was registered at the police station.
BODIES FOUND: Two brutally tortured and bullet-riddled bodies were found from the Korangi and Risala police limits. The Risala police said that they received information that a body packed in a gunny bag was lying at RK Square Line. A patrolling mobile rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Unidentified people had kidnapped the victim, and had tortured him with knives because his face and nose were cut and bore cigarette marks. Later, he was shot at seven times, before his body was dumped. A case was registered at the police station.
The bullet-riddled body bearing torture marks of a 32-year-old unidentified man was found from Korangi police limits. The police said that the body was found from Korangi 2 1/2. A case was registered at the police station.
