Miscreants adding to the
miseries of refugees: ANP
By Fawad Ali Shah
KARACHI: Awami National Party (ANP)
Sindh President Shahi Syed said on Friday that miscreants are
conspiring against the integrity of Pakistan by creating hurdles in
the movement of IDPs and are adding to their miseries.
“The people of Malakand division are
Pakistanis and no one has the right to stop them from traveling to
other parts of the country,” said Syed at a press conference adding
that Pakistan was not the property of a single individual. The
influx of the IDPs to Sindh has created a controversy over the past
few weeks as Sindh nationalist parties are opposed to IDP influx,
arguing that this would add to the troubles of already depressed
Sindhis.
“Their reservations are based on
false assumptions. The IDPs would return to their homelands as soon
as the situation becomes normal there,” he said.
Referring to the Kashmore incident on
Thursday night when police authorities stopped 37 buses from
Peshawar at Kashmore, a Sindh-Punjab border town, from entering in
to the Sindh, Syed said that it was an unjust move. “They have
already setup registration centers at the border areas of the
provinces and there is no question of stopping them from entering
into Sindh,” he maintained adding that he discussed the issue with
Rehman Malik, who assured him that such incidents would be avoided
in the future.
About the reservations of some
political parties that terrorists could enter Karachi in the guise
of IDPs, he said that his party supported the checking of buses
coming to Karachi and the registration of IDPs. However he
maintained that no one has the right to stop Pakistani nationals
from entering other provinces. “They are fighting Pakistan’s war and
the Pakistanis are not ready to own them,” he said.
Answering a question, Syed regarded
his meeting with the chief minister as successful and said that he
welcomed the promises of the CM regarding the setting up of IDP
relief camps. Syed said that he has informed the central leadership
of ANP that he is not willing to stay in the Sindh government any
more. “ANP would strongly react if anyone tries to limit the
movement of IDPs to these camps. They must be allowed to move
freely,” he went on to say
