The Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz (JSQM)
Aresar Group will not allow displaced persons to enter Sindh,
including Karachi, JSQM Aresar group Chairman Abdul Wahid Aresar has
said.
He said that the group’s strike call
was not just for a day and if the government did not fulfil their
demands, they will be compelled to launch a series of strikes till
their demands are met.
Aresar told The News that they had
three reasons for the strike. “Firstly, history tells us that the
Pushtoons fought three wars with foreigners but did not leave their
homeland even at the peak of the war,” he said. Aresar questioned
why they were leaving the province when the Pakistan Army launched
an operation against militants in Swat.
He also questioned why displaced
persons were not being settled in the NWFP which was big enough to
accommodate them. Moreover, recently a camp was established in
Taxila (Punjab) for displaced persons, but when political parties in
Punjab protested over the establishment of camps there, their
demands were fulfilled and the camps were removed. “When we
protested in Sindh, however, over the entry and establishment of
camps, no one is heeding our protest,” Aresar added. The JSQM
chairman stated that Sindh was already weak and had many problems,
including the shortage of drinking water, electricity, jobs and
other issues, such as land. “The infrastructure here cannot cater to
the influx of refugees,” he said.
“Sindh is known to be a peaceful
province, but when militants hailing from the NWFP come here, they
will damage the image of the province internationally, severely
affecting the economy of the country,” Aresar said, adding that
terrorists will also come to Sindh in the guise of displaced
persons. Aresar said that the strike call issued by his party was
supported other political parties as well.
