US envoy meets MQM leaders in Karachi
Karachi, May 9 (ANI): U.S. Ambassador to Pakistan,
Anne W.Patterson, met with the MQM
leadership in Azizabad here on Friday and expressed Washington’s
resolve to “interact and consult with all democratic forces” of the
country.
“The United States is committed to cooperate with the newly
installed elected government on a wide range of issues that are
important to both countries,” Ambassador Patterson
told
the MQM leadership at the Khurshid Memorial Hall.
Patterson and
the U.S. Consul General were received by MQM’s parliamentary leader
and MNA Dr. Farooq Sattar and other prominent MQM leaders.
According to The News, Patterson reiterated
Washington’s full support for the success of the ongoing political
process in Pakistan and the US resolve to “encourage Pakistan’s
continued democratic development.”
She also described Karachi as one of the world’s largest metropolitan
areas and
a key trading hub in the global economy.
She emphasized the importance of security and the continuing
political reconciliation among all political elements in the city.
