Pakistan culture open house in Washington attracts Americans

WASHINGTON: Pakistani art, cuisine and dresses were among the attractions at a daylong open house at the country’s embassy here as thousands of Americans, Pakistani-Americans and diplomats from several countries thronged the cultural gala. Organised jointly be the embassy and Cultural Tourism DC, the event was named, ‘A Day in the Bazaar; Pakistani Marketplace; Art and Culture’. The annual event included screening of film ‘Ramchand Pakistani’ directed by Mahreen Jabbar, musical performances, cultural and calligraphic paintings by Qaiser Iqbal and a photo exhibition courtesy the National Geographic Society. Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States Husain Haqqani and his wife MNA Farahnaz Isphahani greeted the visitors on arrival. Pakistani costumes for men and women and ornaments and artifacts from various parts of the country were also displayed.
