French want to arrange Gandhara Art Exhibition F.P. Report

LAHORE: A French delegation headed by Mr. Alain Freynet, Development Counsellor, Embassy of France in Pakistan called on Punjab Minister for Culture and Youth Affairs Dr. Tanvir-ur-Islam, here today. The delegation expressed desire of arranging Gandhara Art Exhibition at Guimet Museum France in March 2010. The other members of delegation include Cultural Attaché of Embassy of France, Mr. Pierre Muller, Pierre Cambon, Conservator of Guimet Museum and Susanne Annen, Project Manager and officers of Lahore Museum were also present in the meeting. Alain Freynet said thatPakistan has largest treasure of Gandhara Art and its civilization in the world. The Minister assured full cooperation to the delegation in organizing Gandhara Exhibition in France and asked them to send a formal request to the federal as well as provincial government to finalize the arrangements for sending Artifacts to France. Mr. Alain further said that this exhibition would promote the soft image of Pakistan at world level and the people would be aware of cultural heritage of Pakistan. While talking to the delegation, Dr. Tanvir said that Pakistanis are hospitable and art loving people. He said that a handful terrorists and anti-social elements could not make hostage the whole country. The delegation thanked the Minister for their warm welcome and hospitality extended to them.
