People hold authorities responsible

By Our Correspondent

LAHORE

THE general public severely condemned the suicide bomb blast which rocked the provincial capital on the morning of Wednesday.

The blast panicked people and created insecurity throughout the country in general and the city in particular. People from different parts of the city condemned the attack and held the authorities responsible for the attack as they vented their anger against the security lapse on part of the law enforcing forces.

A man from Faisal Town said if the government could not only stop the growth of the militant organisation and it had also completely failed to set up a sound intelligence network. He said it was a sheer carelessness on part of the security and intelligence agencies that had no news that such a big vehicle loaded with 100-kg explosive was moving freely in the city.

A man from Allama Iqbal Town said Pakistan had really become a haven for these suicide bombers who carried out their horrific acts whenever and wherever they wanted. He said all the extremists were now clear that there would be no resistance in launching such attacks in any part of the country. A student at Akbar Chowk said this was the reaction against the government operation in Swat and these kinds of attacks were happening in the past and would continue in the future as well.

People also expressed that a suicide bomber could never be stopped once he was on his way to commit terrorism act so the government should addressed the root causes of the menace of extremism. The The News:Thursday, May 28, 2009
