Govt to rename grounds, stadiums after famous sports personalities’ LAHORE: The government will name all big grounds and stadiums after famous sports personalities to honour their services and promote sports in the city, District Coordination Officer Sajjad Ahmad Bhutta said on Sunday. In a press statement, he announced to name Attique Stadium after Gama Pehlwan. He said the City District Government Lahore (CDGL) had allocated Rs 260 million to develop parks and sports grounds across the city, adding that the government was also considering converting Iqbal Park into the country’s largest sports park on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He also urged multinational companies to play their role in the development of the sports sector in Pakistan. Later, Bhutta visited Shadman Market Sunday Bazaar and suspended Market Committee Secretary Abdul Ghafoor and Inspector Anwar Shah for overcharging and not displaying rate lists of different articles.
