American history course concludes LAHORE (NNI): U.S. Consulate Principal Officer Bryan D. Hunt highlighted the "importance of studying history" as he congratulated participants on their completion of a 5-day course on American History held at the Lahore Museum. "It is through the studying of history that students improve their understanding of people and societies and gain insights into the relationships among countries of the world," said the U.S. diplomat addressing approximately 70 students from various educational institutions of Lahore. "I hope that this American History course has provided the students a window into the motivations of current U.S. domestic and foreign policies." The course took participants chronologically from the origins of the United States as a colony of the British Empire through the evolution of its democratic institutions, the Civil War, and its growth as a major power in the post-Second World War period. The series of lectures concluded with a discussion on U.S. diplomatic history and the bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Pakistan. "Traditionally, we have held this course once a year," remarked Public Affairs Officer Traci Mell. "However, due to great demand by the students, we are hosting two sessions this year. We plan to offer the second session this fall." Pakistani scholars and U.S. Consulate officers delivered lectures on various aspects of American history.
