Lahore mourns Naeemi’s killing
LAHORE
THE leadership of PML-N and PML-Q
have strongly condemned the killing of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi,
patron-in-chief of Jamia Naeemia, in a suicide blast and termed his
death a great national loss.
PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif said
the death of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi was shocking for him and his
family and they took it as a great tragedy. He said the death of Dr
Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi had deprived him of a sincere and sympathetic
brother. “The killers of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi have proved
themselves as enemies of Islam and Pakistan through such nefarious
act”, he said and added that the deceased had reserved his life for
the promotion and propagation of religion. He said the deceased was
a thorough religious man, a great teacher, patriotic and his life
was a beacon light for others. He said the gulf created due to his
death would not be filled in centuries to come.
Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad
Shahbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the incident of terrorism at
Jamia Naeemia which resulted in the martyrdoms of prominent
religious leader and scholar Dr. Muhammad Sarfaraz Naeemi as well as
others.
In a condolence message, the Chief
Minister said Maulana Sarfaraz Naeemi was a leading religious
scholar who played an important role for the promotion of religious
brotherhood and harmony between the followers of different schools
of thought. He said Maulana Sarfaraz Naeemi was held in great esteem
by religious circles and was also known for his patriotism. He said
the services of Maulana Naeemi for the promotion of religious
teachings would long be remembered.
The Chief Minister prayed that may
Allah Almighty rest the departed souls in eternal peace and grant
courage and strength to the bereaved families to bear the
irreparable loss with fortitude. He also prayed for the early
recovery of the injured persons.
PML-Q President Ch Shujjat Hussain
and its central leader Ch Pervaiz Elahi have expressed their grief
and sorrow over the killing of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi. They have
condoled with the family of the deceased and prayed for the early
recovery of the injured. They have demanded the government for
making foolproof arrangements of the security of all the leaders who
are on the hit list of terrorists.
They stated that Dr Sarfraz Naeemi’s
services for the promotion and propagation of Islam would always be
remembered.
PML-N leaders, including Senator Raja
Zafar-ul-Haq, Senator Zafar Ali Shah, Secretary General Iqbal Zafar
Jhagra and Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal, have strongly
condemned the killing of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi and termed his
death a great national loss. They stated that the time had come when
the political and military leadership would have to take a unanimous
stance on terrorists. They stated that deceased Dr Mufti Sarfraz
Naeemi was a moderate person, scholar and thinker who had a positive
approach. They claimed that the terrorists had adopted a new method
of killing everybody who was opposing their ideology and they wanted
to make the entire world their stooge.
Speaker and Deputy Speaker Punjab
Assembly Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan and Rana Mashud have strongly
condemned the killing of Dr Mufti Sarfraz Naeemi and stated that
such terrorist activities are bringing a bad name for Pakistan at
the international level. They said the terrorists were enemies of
Pakistan and did not want it to progress and prosper but the people
of Pakistan would foil the nefarious designs of their enemies. They
have condoled with the families of the deceased and prayed for the
early recovery of the injured.
Meanwhile, PPP Lahore leaders have
condemned the tragic killing of renowned religious scholar Allama
Sarfaraz Naeemi and termed his death a great loss.
According to a press release issued
on Friday, PPP Lahore President Chaudhry Muhammad Asgher, General
Secretary Akbar Khan, Secretary Information Malik Azhar Mughal,
Deputy Secretary Information Wajid Ali Shah and other leaders
expressed deep regret over the killing of moderate religious
scholars. Leaders stated that the perpetrators of such heinous act
must be given stern punishment and the whole nation was united
against terrorism.
