- Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has announced its unconditional
support to the Sindh-based parties against the settlement of
displaced people in the province.
“We assure MQM’s support and cooperation to Sindh-based parties who
are protesting against the camps of internally displaced persons (IDPs)
in the province,” said deputy convenor MQM Rabita Committee and
Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis, Dr Farooq Sattar, while
addressing a press conference here Friday.
Provincial Minister Shoaib Bukhari, Waseem Aftab, Saleem Tajik,
Kanwar Khalid Younis and others were also present on the occasion.
Sattar said that MQM believed in the sovereignty and stability of
the country therefore it would not allow the spread of
Talibanisation in the Sindh province.
“We shall meet Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah to discuss these
issues today and later we shall bring the concerns of people of
Sindh to the notice of President Asif Zardari and Federal Interior
Minister Rehman Malik during their visits of the province,” he
announced.
To a question about exchange of firing between Pakistan Rangers and
the IDPs, he said MQM would propose to the government to stop the
entry of migrants from other provinces in view of these incidents.
The residents of any province should live in their own areas and
they should be provided all civic facilities in their hometowns”, he
added.
